The Canadian payments services marketplace has been slow to introduce innovative products and services seen on the global stage. A lack of competition has allowed inefficiencies to creep into the marketplace as a result of aging or outdated technologies, processes or policies.
Established in May 2019, PayTechs of Canada is a not-for-profit association that provides a harmonized voice for PayTech firms.
To achieve the best possible payment experiences for Canadians by promoting competition through solutions-oriented advocacy and education.
We are working to improve payment systems and the users’ experiences, with greater efficiencies, enhanced safety, and increased innovation. We believe this can be achieved through more effective industry regulation and greater competition.
Users should have control
over their own data
Payments should be instant,
secure and convenient
Competition should drive
innovation and reduce cost
“PayTechs of Canada will be the go-to platform to help inform regulators, stakeholders and Canadians as to how this industry needs to evolve. Not participating is not having a voice in that discussion.” – Daniel Eberhard, CEO, KOHO Financial Inc.
